The San Luis Obispo County YMCA has an opening for a Membership Services Representative
Part-time, 15-20 hours a week/must be available weekends.
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Membership Director and COO, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, and consistent with the San Luis Obispo County YMCA mission, the Member Services Representative will be responsible for the administration and prompt courteous customer service functions of the members of the YMCA.
Interviews and/or tours prospective members; processes memberships. keeps accurate payment/enrollment records and follows Y policy and procedures. Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the facility and on the phone, contributing to member retention. Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the Y. Handles and resolves membership concerns Able to effectively and safely evacuate persons from the facility if needed Ensures Y building and property is secure during shift Replaces soap, paper towels, and other supplies in the facility as needed; inventory control as required. Daily and weekly inspections of fitness equipment for cleanliness and safety hazards. Be prompt and dependable
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, and/or EXPERIENCE Must be minimum of 18 years of age. Minimum of high school degree or equivalent. Bi-lingual Spanish preferred. Previous customer service experience preferred. Experience with youth/teen development and parent relations preferred. Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations. Excellent organizational, verbal and written skills.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Within 30 days of hire: CPR/First Aid /AED, Child Abuse Prevention training, Blood Borne Pathogens training as required. Live scan clearance (as condition of hire) (Certifications need to remain current during employment.)
