The San Luis Obispo County YMCA is looking for a Youth Programs Floater to support our before and after school programs.
Part time (approx. 20 hours a week)
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Community Programs Directors, in cooperation with other YMCA staff, and consistent with the San Luis Obispo County YMCA's mission, the Youth Program Floater will provide program and administrative support to YMCA childcare programs including before & afterschool programs, vacation camps, and summer camps. This position support the Y's youth programs County wide which includes (but is not limited to): North County including Shandon, coastal, San Luis Obispo and South County sites.
Support the Y's recreational and grant funded before school, afterschool programs and youth childcare camps. In ratio support is the primary duty of this position, however, may perform simple administrative and/or program support (such as curriculum preparation, attendance records or emergency card updates) as needed at an individual site. Support all sites as directed. The job location will most likely change on a day-to-day basis. Must be able to drive own vehicle, valid insurance/Driver's License and clear driving record. Drive time and mileage reimbursements apply in accordance with the Y policy. A "home" base may be designated for a period of time from which to go to and from. The home base could change depending on the needs of the Y. Flexibility in scheduling of hours is a must.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, and/or EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 18 years of age. Bi-lingual Spanish desired. Child Development and/or ECE Units preferred. Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations. Experience with youth/teen development and parent relations desired. Good organizational skills, initiative, and a proactive attitude. Good verbal communication skills. Able to communicate effectively with YMCA staff, youth, parents, school staff, community partners and volunteers.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: • Live scan clearance. • Within the first 30 days of employment: CPR/AED, and First Aid, blood borne pathogens training as required. • Valid driver's license and car insurance • Clear driving record (Certifications and licenses must remain current during employment.)
