POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Program Director or Coordinator, and in cooperation with other YMCA Staff, volunteers, and consistent the San Luis Obispo County YMCA Mission, the Gym Monitor will be responsible for the overall supervision of the gymnasiums.
1. Responsible for a high quality program delivery consistent with the YMCA standards. 2. Responsible for set-up and clean up; maintaining cleanliness of gyms; sweeping the floor at half time, picking up any water bottles, etc. left in the gym after the games. 3. Responsible for checking outside areas periodically to make sure kids are not in restricted areas. 4. Communicate program/gym/participant concerns to program director 5. Responsible for a high quality program delivery consistent with the YMCA standards. 6. Responsible for checking outside areas periodically to make sure kids are not in restricted areas. 7. Develop and maintain a positive relationship with the participants, parents and volunteers in the program. 8. Document any accident/injury/incident on Incident Report Form 9. Attend required staff training's and all required staff meetings
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, and/or EXPERIENCE: 1. Must be a minimum of 18 years old. Preferably a high school graduate or equivalent. 2. Experience with Basketball and/or other sports. 3. Bi-lingual Spanish desired. 4. Reliable and dependable. 5. Strong communication skills and the ability to accurately communicate a variety of program information and requirements to parents, children, volunteers, and staff.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: • Within the first 30 days: CPR, First Aid, AED; Child Abuse Prevention training. • Blood borne pathogens training as required. • Livescan clearance. (Certifications need to remain current during employment.)
