Under the direction of the Sports Director, the Skate Park Attendant is responsible for the supervision, safety and well-being of visitors to the South County Skate Park in Grover Beach. The Skate Park Attendant will focus on providing a safe, clean environment for all Skate Park guests. This position supports the South County Skate Park by being consistent with the San Luis Obispo County YMCA program objectives and mission. Strong people and customer service skills; hard working, motivated, and team-oriented; work effectively in a hectic, fast-paced environment. Must be available to work weekends.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Unlock Skate Park and kiosk 2. Inspect equipment for damage or loss 3. Complete a thorough check of the park identifying unsafe conditions and if found, immediately report to the Sports Director 4. Sign skaters in as they enter the park, collect admission and ensure that all skaters have a waiver on file 5. Supervise park operations 6. Insure the safety of each visitor; Discourage dangerous activity.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, and/or EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 18 years of age. Bilingual desired. Ability to lead and communicate with all Skate Park patrons. Basic knowledge of skateboarding/inline skating. Experience with youth development and parent relations Previous supervisory experience of youth required. Prior cash handling experience preferred. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Good organizational skills, initiative, and a proactive attitude.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Live scan clearance. Within the first 30 days of hire: CPR/AED, and First Aid certificate, Child Abuse prevention training. Blood borne pathogens training as required. (Certifications need to remain current during employment.)
