The San Luis Obispo County Y has an opening for a Sports Program Coordinator for the San Luis Obispo and South County regions.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Sports Director, in cooperation with other YMCA staff, and consistent with the San Luis Obispo County YMCA's mission, the Sports Programs Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the administration, supervision, program development and implementation of successful YMCA Youth and Adult Sports Programs throughout the county. Duties include assisting with recruitment and support for other employees, volunteers (coaches and interns); recruiting participants, organizing teams, registration, transporting and set up of equipment to practices and games; scheduling meetings, practices and games, facilities, and personnel. Provide livescan and program enrollment support for the sports program in San Luis Obispo County.
Keep accurate and daily records. (Sign in, time cards, punch cards, payments, tracking records, etc.). Continue all standards, records and procedures required by state and local agencies. Conduct all public relations and Y promotion with a positive image within the communities we serve . Assist with budget over site for the department. Transport equipment and safety materials to sports sites. Assist in scheduling staff, volunteers and sports activities. Responsible for assisting with County-wide sports programs under the directon of the Sports Director. Represent the YMCA and maintain a professional and positive relationship with school principals, staff, parents and other community partners. Assure the accurate and timely completion, communication to supervisor and follow-up on all accident/injury/incident reports. In accordance with the YMCA's child abuse prevention policy, the Sports Program Coordinator is responsible for appropriate procedures and reporting of any suspected abuse. Follow all procedures for program registration, payments and cash handling. Provide timely, consistent and appropriate contact with coaches, parents, program sites and other entities Assist with overall program development/growth and evaluation. Assist with assessing and addressing needs of local communities, schools and parents. Assist with executing creative, high-quality program delivery. Assist with developing program curriculum, including weekly and monthly calendars. Assist with evaluating the success of program curriculum. Assist with volunteer coordination. Provide leadership for program special events, promotions and community activities. Work with community organizations and schools to promote and collaborate for the benefit of Y youth sports programming.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, and/or EXPERIENCE: 1. Minimum of 18 years of age. 2. Bi-Lingual (Spanish) preferred. 3. Must be able to drive own vehicle, valid insurance/Drivers License and clear driving record. 4. Associates degree in related field preferred and 2 years sports assistance/managerment or equivalent combination of education and experience. 5. Previous supervisory experience preferred. 6. Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations. 7. Experience with youth/teen development and parent relations preferred. 8. Excellent organizational skills, initiative, and a proactive attitude. 9. Excellent verbal communication skills. Able to communicate effectively with YMCA staff, youth, parents, school staff, community partners and volunteers. 10. A commitment to the goals and philosophy of the YMCA. 11. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. 12. Must be able to drive own vehicle, valid insurance/Driver's License and clear driving record. Remain insurable during employment.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: • Live scan clearance. • Valid Drivers License and insurance • Within the first 30 days of employment: CPR/ First Aid/AED certificate, child abuse prevention training. • Blood borne pathogens training as required. (Certifications need to remain current during employment.)
