Annual Program Membership Fee
The San Luis Obispo County YMCA is a membership-based community service organization. Everyone is welcome to join the SLO County YMCA and no one is turned away for lack of ability to pay. You can become a YMCA member by either enrolling as a Program Member which enables you to enroll in the YMCA’s other programs (but does not allow access to the fitness facility) or as a Health & Fitness Center Member.

Summer Day Camps

Planet Y a4-10 NEW!!!

Ages: 4-10

Planet Y Camp is an exciting new camp based on site at the YMCA Fitness Facility in San Luis Obispo. This new camp will provide children with a FUN, enriching summer camp experience in a safe and supportive environment. Campers will participate in age appropriate activities based on weekly themes and will enjoy beautiful neighborhood parks. On site features include the YMCA Bounce House, Kids Gym with rope swing, a youth fitness program, and art enrichment classes. YMCA Camps also include unique components to build character and the total person. A Camp T-shirt is included.

YMCA Character Camp K-4 is a travel based camp that provides children

with challenging, exciting, enriching, and recreational activities in a safe and supportive environment. We offer awesome age-appropriate activities such as swimming, hiking, cooking, field trips, service-learning, and arts & crafts! Field trips include SLO Downtown Cinemas, Mustang Water Slides, Cal Poly Bowling, Gymnastics, Sinsheimer Pool, and more .YMCA camps also include unique components to build character and the total person. Summer Day Camp

Ages: Entering Grades 5 through 8

YMCA Adventure Club 58 Day Camp provides adolescents with a summer of fun especially designed for this age group. Campers participate in activities and travel throughout the county while building skills and making friends. Leadership development, teamwork, and civic responsibility connect young people with their community. Field trips include Kayaking in Morro Bay, Culinary Arts, Rock Climbing, Bowling, and beautiful Oasis at Star Farms. A Camp T-shirt is included.

Bitty Sports Camp (age 4 - 8)
Learn to play basketball, soccer and T-ball. Kids will be active, have fun and learn healthy fundamentals. Kids will be treated to a bounce house party on the last day. Fee includes all healthy snacks and materials.

Dates: June 22-24
Time: 9:30 am – 11:30 am

Pirate Camp (age 4 - 8)
Come sail away with us on a pirate adventure! Pirates and their captain will make pirate flags, find buried treasure and enjoy a pirate party. A legendary pirate and his crew will also visit Pirate Camp. Fees include pirate supplies and snacks.

Time: 9:30 am - 11:30 am

Knights and Princesses Camp (age 4 - 8)

Royal Knights and Princesses will explore the fantastic world of castles, quests, and adventure. A special Knight and Princess will visit camp to tell their grand stories, play games, and make crafts. The last day of camp will feature a special party for all Knights, Princesses, and their families. Fee includes all royal supplies and snacks.

Art Camp (age 4 - 8)
Calling all future Picasso’s! Come to the YMCA and work with local artists to create art out of paint, clay, textiles, and recycled materials. There will be an art show at the end of camp, and each artist will receive a framed piece of their artwork. Fee includes art materials and snacks.

Time: 9:30 am – 12 noon

Mini-Mad Science (age 4 - 8)
Come to our Mini-Mad Science Camp and participate in hands-on experimental fun! This camp explores the exciting world of science and science experiments, from sand volcanoes to making gak. A special guest Scientist will visit the camp. Fee includes snack and supplies.

Dates: July 19-22
Time: 9:30 – 12 noon

Ballet Camp (age 4 - 8)
Twirl, dance and leap in this fun and entertaining camp. Learn ballet fundamentals, improving coordination and fitness while making new friends. The last day of camp will be a performance for ballerinas and families! Come to camp in ballerina attire, tutus, skirts, ballet slippers, leotards, comfortable clothes to dance in and have fun! Fee includes snack and materials.

Time: 9:30 am – 12 noon

Magic Camp (age 4 - 8)
Learn some magic tricks, study famous magicians and have fun at the popular Magic Camp, complete with a magic show on our last day. Each participant receives a mini-magic kit to take home. Participants are encouraged to come dressed as your favorite magician from a book or movie. Fees include all magic supplies and marvelous snacks.

Dates: August 2 - 5
Time: 9:30 am – 12 noon.

Community Heroes Camp (age 4 - 8) NEW!!!
Come to this exciting new camp about our local community and all the heroes we see everyday: doctors, police officers, teachers, firefighters, and more. Campers will get to meet real local heroes, build their own community, and play a variety of games. Fees include all snacks and supplies.


Dates: August 10 – 12
Time: 9:30 am – 11:30 am

Theatre Camp (age 4 - 8)
Calling all future actors! Experience the creative fun and excitement of theater at the SLO YMCA! We will learn about a stage, make costumes/decorations, play theater games, and memorize a script. The last day of camp will feature a special performance for family and friends. Fees include theater snacks and supplies.

YMCA Little Adventures Preschool is designed for 2 1/2 to 5 year olds to learn through positive experiences in a structured environment. Each day includes a variety of activities to develop both large and small motor skills, group activities and a craft. Zoo-phonics curriculum is taught daily, and

this method of teaching the alphabet is a great tool in reading readiness. Little Adventures Preschool prides itself in building character and teaching skills that last a lifetime.

Healthy Kids Club

Ages: 4-12 years old

Days: Monday-Friday

Location:  San Luis Obispo YMCA Facility

Cost: $120 per month or a $6 daily drop-in fee.

The Healthy Kids Club program is a weekday afternoon drop-in program that focuses on building healthy lives for youth through a variety of youth fitness classes and challenges, nutrition, cooking and group games. Participants have access to Kids Gym, the Main Gym and the Bounce House. Staff will walk all participating children from Sinsheimer Elementary School to the YMCA.

Club Y - Before and After School

Age: K-6th Grade

Club Y staff is college educated and works with the goal of providing a safe, fun and enriching experience for your child. Safety is priority at the YMCA and we always go the extra mile. We ensure that our sites model all the best practices. When your child participates in Club Y, they receive more than just quality, licensed childcare. Children feel valued, are mentored by positive adult role models, are taught character through our Character Counts curriculum and gain a sense of appreciation for their community. Our Club Y program offers specialized clubs that meet your child’s developmental needs and interests. The children gain confidence, practice good citizenship and develop skills that will last a lifetime. Each month your child will have the opportunity to enroll in activities that suits their own needs and interests. Clubs include but are not limited to homework club, drama club, sports clubs and for the 5th and 6th graders, leadership club.

Year-Round Sports Programs

Bitty Sports

Parents rave about the fun they and

their children have participating in the Y’s Bitty Sports series. Bitty Sports is designed for boys and girls ages 3-5 and their families with a number of goals in mind. Not only do the children learn concepts of each sport, but they also learn the philosophies of teamwork, fair play and sportsmanship. They have

the opportunity to develop friendships and new skills. It is a soft approach to sports for preschool age children.

T-Ball & Coach/

Machine Pitch

For the 9th year in a row, the YMCA is teaming up with the Cal Ripken

Baseball League. The YMCA will run the T-Ball & Coach Pitch/Machine Pitch Program for kid’s ages 5-8 years old, and Cal Ripken will run the Kid-Pitch Program for youth ages 8-12 years old.

The T-Ball/Coach Pitch Program is very non-competitive (no scores are kept, everyone gets to play all of the time), and is designed to teach the basics of baseball. Coaches are volunteers, and also serve as the umpires. This program is wonderful for the younger, beginning baseball player.

San Luis Obispo Youth Roller Hockey

Targeted to all skill levels, including beginners, the Roller Hockey program was developed to offer children an alternative sport that provides great body conditioning without the “down time” seen in other sports such as baseball. Even if you don’t know how to skate, you are encouraged to try this sport. The YMCA’s experienced coaches will teach all of the fundamentals of the sport, including how to skate and how to improve skating for the sport. The program strives to encourage skill development, self-confidence and positive peer interaction. It also provides a unique opportunity for parents to share quality time with the children, and have fun doing it!

Summer Season:

Registration Dates: Begins April 19th, 2010, late registration begins June 14th, (add additional $10). Registration closes March 4th.

Season Dates: July 6th – August 12th, 2010
Game and Practice Location: Paulding Middle School in Arroyo Grande


Time: Games will be Tuesday and Thursday evenings, starting at 5:30 pm and depend on the team. Practices will be on Wednesday evenings.

NFL Flag Football

 

 

 

The NFL Flag program exists nationwide in all 32 NFL markets. In San Luis Obispo, this program is a collaboration between the YMCA and the SLO City Parks and Recreation. NFL Flag provides an opportunity for kids ages 6-14 and families to become involved in football through participation early in life. It also help develop the first phase of player and coach development by teaching football skills at the earliest age, while structuring the first level of a

feeder system to community tackle programs or high school programs.

Futsal (Indoor Soccer)

The City of San Luis Obispo Parks and Recreation and the San Luis Obispo County YMCA are proud to bring you Futsal. Futsal is indoor soccer played on a small court with a variation of the outdoor soccer rules; it is played with five players at a time. Special Holiday Day Care - San Luis Obispo

The YMCA offers a fun and enriching day care during school holidays, such as Martin Luther King Day and President's Day.

Special Holiday Day Care is offered to families not otherwise enrolled in YMCA after-school programs. For those families currently enrolled, care on this day is included as part of your monthly membership.

Special Holiday Care is designed to provide your children with fun, safe, and exciting place for your child to spend their day off from school on select school holidays.

The YMCA incorporates the 6 pillars of character into every aspect of our day of fun, as well as offering unique components of asset development designed to develop the total person-spirit, mind, and body. We do art projects, teambuilding activities, physical activities, and offer a nutritional snack. Sign your child up today, and rest assured that they will spend the day in good hands. Please be sure your child dresses in play clothes and brings along a healthy lunch & water (please no soda).
