The San Luis Obispo County YMCA has an opening for a Full-time, benefit eligible Lead Member Services Representative!
M-F, some weekends/nights, medical/dental/vision/vacation eligible
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Membership Director the Lead Membership Services Representative, in cooperation with other YMCA staff, and consistent with the San Luis Obispo County YMCA mission, is responsible for the customer service functions of the member services department and front line administrative tasks.
Encourages member involvement & identifies potential volunteers. Is knowledgeable on all programs, classes, schedules and facility changes. Updates T.V. Information screen. Assist with program registration and general office support. Works with supervisor and Human Resources to post and fill open positions in the department. Trains new and current staff on processes and procedures for the department. Completes and informs staff of work schedules and schedule changes for front line services and Child Watch staff. Interviews and/or tours prospective members; sells memberships. Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the facility and on the phone, contributing to member retention. Builds relationships with members and provide motivational support. Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor as required. Assists in updating and writing Member Service and Child Watch procedures. Ensures Y building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous situations or conditions to supervisor. Replaces soap, paper towels, and other supplies in the facility as needed. Is responsible for purchasing kitchen break room supplies and member services needs/events. Keep inventory control as required. Daily and weekly inspections of fitness equipment for cleanliness and safety hazards. Maintains Organizational Program Schedule. Keep accurate daily cash receipt records. Ensure all shift closeouts balance.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, and/or EXPERIENCE: 1. Minimum of 18 years of age. 2. Bi-lingual preferred. 3. Minimum of high school or equivalent. 4. Must be able to drive own vehicle, valid insurance/Driver's License and clear driving record. Remain insurable during employment. 5. Previous customer service experience required and experience with youth/teen development and parent relations preferred. 6. Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software. 7. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. 8. Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations. 9. Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations. 10. Y Team Leader or Multi-team/Branch Leader certification preferred. 11. Excellent organizational skills, initiative, and a proactive attitude. 12. Excellent verbal communication skills. Able to communicate effectively with YMCA staff, youth, parents, school staff, community partners and volunteers.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: • Live scan clearance • Within the first 30 days: CPR/AED, and First Aid, child abuse prevention training • Blood borne pathogens training as required • Valid driver's license and car insurance • (Certifications need to remain current during employment
