Our traditional YMCA Summer Day Camp Experience, Discovery Camp offers a full day (7:30 AM - 5:30 PM) of activities, from STEM projects and crafts, to sports and cooking, and one field trip per week!
Taking care of kids is what we're all about! With more than more than 65 years in the community, we provide a safe, thriving environment for young people to explore personal interests, build self-esteem, develop interpersonal skills, discover the creativity and health benefits of the outdoors, and make lasting friendships and memories.
Our dedicated and enthusiastic staff! Campers will receive care and attention from trained Y staff. All staff members are certified in first aid and CPR. Most of all, our staff are people who love kids! They want to spend their summer helping your child learn, grow and thrive.
Creativity, fun, and exploration! Campers will explore personal interests through our weekly themed camps, with fun activities for grades K-6 to make new friends and memories. Healthy snacks provided daily, with HEPA (Healthy Eating and Physical Activity) Education. Our staff make education fun through academic enrichment designed to prevent learning loss.
Summer Social Emotional Learning
The Y has teamed up with Transitions-Mental Health Association (T-MHA) on a Social Emotional Support Pilot program created with the intention to support the youth, adolescents, and families facing mental health and social emotional challenges. Students in YMCA summer camps will be provided age-appropriate lessons focusing on specific skills like self-awareness, self-management, empathy, and cooperation on a weekly basis. Sessions are conducted in a group format, with individual services available to youth and families. All programming support is free and included with summer camp enrollment.
All summer camps will operate in compliance with local, state, and CDC guidelines, and will follow health and safety procedures including health screenings, physical distancing, and increased sanitization practices. Plans may change depending on regulations and guidance from CDC and local entities. Thank you for your continued patience and flexibility as we do our best to keep you updated and informed.

She loves going to the Y, loves the staff and all her friends. She even learned how to ride a bike at the Y. She is a social person and needs the constant interactions with others. With out the Y she wouldn't have had that available as often as she would like. - San Luis Obispo Parent
It was a great opportunity for my children to make new friends, see a variety of places in our community and feel comfortable learning/traveling. The staff was wonderful and very caring. My children had a wonderful experience and want to do it again next year. - South County Parent
