POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Sports Director, and in cooperation with other YMCA Staff, Volunteers and consistent with the San Luis Obispo YMCA Mission the Basketball Coordinator is responsible for program development, supervision, and implementation of successful North County YMCA Youth Basketball programming. Duties include recruitment of participants, support for other employees, volunteers, coaches, organizing teams, registration, equipment, scheduling meetings, practices and games, facilities and personnel. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Program Administration 1. Keep accurate and daily records. (Sign in, punch cards, payments, tacking records, etc.) 2. Continue all standards, records and procedures required by state and local agencies. 3. Conduct all public relations and Y promotions with a positive image within the communities we serve. 4. Represent the YMCA and maintain a professional and positive relationship with school principals, staff, parents and other community partners. 5. Assure the accurate and timely completion, communication to supervisor and follow-up on all accident/injury/incident reports. 6. In accordance with the YMCA”s child abuse prevention policy, North County Basketball Coordinator is responsible for appropriate procedures and reporting of any suspected abuse. 7. Follow all Workers Comp/Accident Reporting procedures in an efficient and timely manner from initiation to completion of claim.
Program Development 8. Assist with overall program development/growth and evaluation. 9. Assist with assessing and addressing needs of local communities, schools and parents. 10. Assist with executing creative, high-quality program delivery. 11. Assist with developing program curriculum, including weekly and monthly calendars. 12. Assist with evaluating the success of program curriculum 13. Assist with volunteer coordination
Community Development 14. Provide leadership for program special events, promotions and community activities. 15. Work with community organizations and schools to promote and collaborate for the benefit of Y youth sports programming. 16. Contribute to the overall health of the organization through special events and activities.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Document any accident/injury/incident on Incident Report Form as appropriate. • Provide courteous, prompt, and sincere attention to participants and parent(s). • Respond to all feedback and complaints in a courteous and timely fashion. • Treat other staff members, school personnel, volunteers, parent(s), and participants with courtesy and respect. • Keep supervisor informed of decisions and refer unresolved situations to supervisor. • Be flexible and willing to work with a positive and enthusiastic attitude. • Work with a positive and enthusiastic attitude. • Willing to effectively collaborate with school and community organizations and citizens. • Flexible and willing to work at other sites when needed. • Use program resources efficiently and ecologically. • Follows all Workers Comp/Accident Report procedures through completion of claim. • Attend staff training and all staff meetings as required. • Other duties/projects as assigned by the CEO. demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, and/or EXPERIENCE: 1. Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations. 2. Experience with youth/teen development and parent relations. 3. Good organizational skills, initiative, and a proactive attitude. 4. Good verbal communication skills. Able to communicate effectively with YMCA staff, youth, parent(s), school staff, community partners and volunteers. 5. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. 6. A commitment to the goals and philosophy of the YMCA. 7. Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS • Live scan clearance. • CPR/AED, and First Aid. • Blood Borne Pathogens training. • Defensive Driving Training • Valid Driver License and vehicle insurance (Certifications need to remain current during employment.)
EOE COMPENSATION $13.50 - $16.50 PER HOUR
