POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Membership Director, the Child Watch Representative is responsible for supervision and various activities, including but not limited to: fine arts, recreation, and fitness, while the parent works out at our Gym! This position will help develop a program that meets the community needs and the Y's cause.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide support of various kid's gym activities that focus on healthy living, youth development and social responsibility. Be creative, flexible, and proactive in the development of the Kid's Gym activities. Continually take an active role in providing safe conditions at all times. Remain with the participants while they are signed into the program. Coordinate use of facilities, equipment, and supplies. Keep accurate daily records in accordance with policy and procedure.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School or GED diploma is required for the position. Must be at least 18 years of age. Bi-lingual (Spanish) desired Previous experience with child care, youth development or related experience is required. Courses in childhood education or related field will be taken into consideration. Previous experience in customer service preferred. Good personal computer skills and experience with standard business software. Knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations preferred. Good organizational skills, initiative, and a proactive attitude. Good verbal communication skills. Able to communicate effectively with YMCA staff, youth, parents, and volunteers.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: • Live scan clearance. • Within the first 30 days of hire: CPR/First Aid/AED certificate, Child Abuse Prevention training. • Blood borne pathogens training as required. (Certifications need to remain current during employment.)
