Under the supervision of the Site Director, the Assistant Site Director assists with the overall direction and management of the childcare site within the goals and objectives of the San Luis Obispo County YMCA. This includes responsibility for program implementation, management of site staff, the supervision, safety and wellbeing for up to 16 children, 5 to 12 years old enrolled in the YMCA’s Before and After School Program. The Assistant Site Director is responsible for participating with the Site Director to achieve positive results for the San Luis Obispo County YMCA childcare program.
1. Come to work with a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
2. Assist and follow the Site Director in program planning and implementation.
3. Are flexible and creative in program planning and implementation.
4. Assist with a variety of stimulating, challenging activities appropriate for youth K-6th grade.
5. Are flexible and willing to work at another site or with another group when necessary.
6. Continually take an active role in providing safe conditions at the site.
7. Assists Site Directors in providing a quality Y childcare programs.
8. Under supervision manage accounts receivable, maintain EOC and Financial Assistance reports, registration, and personnel files.
9. Assist Site Directors in preparing weekly staff schedules and in the development and evaluation of each staff member.
10. Creates a list of food and supplies needed for purchase. Maintenance of the Food Program records and preparation of snack menus.
11. Maintain positive reinforcement for each child and willingness to work with Site Director and parent(s) to enhance each child’s experience in the program.
12. Communicate problems and concerns to your supervisor.
13. Report and record any suspected abuse of children (participants) by parent(s), guardian(s), or staff to your supervisor.
14. Listen and smile!
15. Provide courteous, prompt, and sincere attention to participants and parent(s).
16. Respond to all feedback and complaints in a courteous and timely fashion.
17. Treat other staff members with courtesy and respect.
18. Always strive to improve service.
19. Keep your supervisor informed of decisions and refer unresolved situations to your supervisor.
20. Maintain a positive and helpful attitude with all participants and parent(s).
21. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
22. Follows CDC and County Department of Health standards, procedures and recommendations provided to them around health screening, physical distancing, and sanitizing.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Document any accident/injury/incident on the Incident Report Form ass appropriate
• Work with a positive and enthusiastic attitude
• Willing to collaborate with school, community organizations and citizens
• Flexible and willing to work with other sites when needed
• Use program resources efficiently and ecologically
• Follows all Workers Comp/Accident Report procedures through completion of claim
• Attend staff training and all staff meetings as required
• Other duties/projects as assigned by the Site Director
• Must be able to drive own vehicle, valid insurance/Driver License and clear driving record
• Remain insurable during your employment

• Youth -- Experience with youth, their needs, and development strategies. Desire to have a meaningful effect on and build assets in the lives of attendees. Direct experience working with children in an active recreational and developmental atmosphere.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, and/or EXPERIENCE:
1. Must be at least 21 years of age
2. Minimum of AA degree and 1 year experience in related field desired: Combination of education and experience will be taken into consideration
3. Bi-lingual Spanish desired
4. Direct experience working with youth in an active recreational and developmental setting and a sincere desire to have a meaningful effect on the lives of youth
5. Experience with team building and youth development strategies.
6. Experienced in Microsoft Office Software
7. Good organizational skills, initiative, and proactive attitude
8. A commitment to the goals and philosophy of the YMCA
9. Must be able to drive own vehicle, valid insurance/Driver License and clear driving record
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED, and First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention training.
Blood borne pathogens and concussion training as required.
Clear live scan (fingerprints) report.
Valid driver license and car insurance. Must remain current during employment.
