The Personal Trainer works under direct supervision of the Health & Wellness Director and provides fitness instruction to YMCA members by orienting, motivating, and educating members through one-on-one fitness instruction, including but not limited to, assisting members on proper exercise techniques and equipment usage.
Conduct fitness consultations and assessments.
2.Develop individualized programs that ensure client safety and enhancement of personal fitness goals.
Assist, monitor and instruct clients by ensuring safe and effective use of gym equipment and weight machines.
Help motivate clients to achieve their fitness goals
Maintains safe and clean working environment.
Provides the highest quality of fitness instruction and customer service.
Provides support to fitness program.
Supports YMCA promotions and events.
Strives to make each member feel valued and important.
Represents the YMCA in the most professional manner possible.
Maintain highest level of professional and technical knowledge.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Document any accident/injury/incident on Incident Report Form as appropriate.
Work with a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
Willing to collaborate with school and community organizations and citizens.
Flexible and willing to work at other sites when needed.
Use program resources efficiently and ecologically.
Follows all Workers Comp/Accident Report procedures through completion of claim.
Other duties/projects as assigned by the CEO.
Keep supervisor informed of decisions and refer unresolved situations to supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Must be minimum of 18 years of age
One year practical experience preferred.
Personal training certificates: AFAA, ACE, NASM, ACSM, NASCA, ISSA
Knowledge of fitness as appropriate for level of certification.
Educational background in anatomy, kinesiology and exercise science preferred.
Ability to convey positive attitude toward co-workers, members,and the public

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Within the first 30 days: CPR/First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention training, Blood borne pathogens training as required.
Live Scan clearance (upon hire)
Personal Training Certification: AFAA, ACE, NASM, ACSM, NASCA, ISSA
All certificates to remain current during employment
